Violin

In addition to his conducting career, Frédéric Chaine is a professional jazz violinist. Since 2019, he has been performing regularly at The Music Village, one of Brussels’ leading jazz clubs. In 2021 and 2022, Frédéric Chaine was invited to perform with his quartet by the Opéra du Grand Avignon and returned there in October 2025 to share the stage with guitarist Sébastien Giniaux.

He has also performed at Le Senghor, the Rotary Brussels-Vésale, the Cercle Royal Artistique et Littéraire de Gand, the Royal International Club Château Sainte-Anne, the Automne Jazz Rendez-vous and the Citizens’ Garden Concerts organized by the European Parliament.

Frédéric Chaine has collaborated with jazz artists including Florin Niculescu, Sébastien Giniaux, Frédéric Borey, Wajdi Riahi, Yves Brouqui, Daniel Jonkers, Basile Rahola and Boris Schmidt.

In September 2020, he released his first jazz album, De Bruxelles à Lausanne, Ballade improvisée. Influenced by Stéphane Grappelli and Florin Niculescu, Frédéric Chaine combines his classical background with jazz improvisation. He studied classical violin at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel under Yuzuko Horigome and later studied with Miroslav Roussine.
